Most Frequently Asked Questions
My washing machine isn’t draining the water out properly. What do I do?
In most cases, there’s something clogged like lint or a baby sock. Snaking the drain on your washer will usually knock it loose.
My dryer spins; why aren’t my clothes coming out dry?
The heating element is usually the first thing in your dryer to go, since it’s the most necessary component. These can be replaced in lieu of replacing the entire machine, and can be performed rather quickly.
When should I replace my appliance instead of repairing it again?
There’s an old saying about cars that directly applies to this question. If you’re putting more money into the unit than 50% of what you paid, you’re going to continue encountering issues. If you’re considering replacing your unit altogether, no matter what type of appliance that may be, look at any kept receipts over the years.
I bought a new dryer, but the cord in the back doesn’t fit my wall. Why?
Some dryers have different cords. These are usually referred to as either three prong, or four prong, and you can pick up a new one (if your outlet requires it) at any local hardware store.
My fridge isn’t producing cold air and my food is warming up; how do I fix this?
Sometimes when you mess with the controls in your fridge, they go haywire and stop everything. If you have no cold air coming out to keep your food chilled, try putting the dial back to the way it was. You should immediately hear it kick on and begin working again.
When should I change the filters in my microwave that’s above the stove?
Usually, it’s recommended to handle this every six months. You use the fan to suck up the hot, greasy air from when you’re cooking on the stove, and it gets pretty gross pretty fast. Be proactive about keeping these changed for two reasons:
- Grease buildup can aid in starting a fire.
- You don’t want it damaging your microwave.
